The simple elegance of this kris is the result of the beauty of the materials used. The exquisitely and delicately carved ivory handle depicts a raksasa demon. Its human form is nearly entirely covered with foliage and only its expressive face is clearly human despite his curled fangs. In contrast the bulbous space at the bottom of the handle is left entirely uncarved. Below this is a kris ring with a tumpal triangular pattern wrought in extremely fine granulation. The entire sheath is carved of a wonderful piece of rich brown burle wood. Whereas the bottom half is largely undecorated, the upper is carved deeply with plant forms on both sides. The blade has seven curves and is decorated with a dragon whose tail runs up the center.
